Yep, believe it or not, the Bottom Feeders are still making news.
Although we are no longer performing (

the End Of An Era), thanks to your past generosity, support continues to
be provided to those in need in our local communities.

Making Christmas a little more special:
Cold weather - hey, this is Mexico.  But, it really does get cold here - OK
maybe not as cold as in some of the northern parts of our continent but
still cold enough to be uncomfortable.  This is particularly so if your
housing is very basic - like cement block walls and a dirt floor.    Along
with our normal food distribution on Friday, December 22, 2007 we
provided two blankets to each family.  Little did we know at the time that
our area would be in for a prolonged spell of cooler than normal
temperatures that lasted most of the month of January.  So, once again,
thanks to the past generosity of Bottom Feeder supporters, we were able
to make life a little more livable to some of the less fortunate in our
community.

Dispensas:
Don't believe we've ever given you this word before.  The normal food
distributions we do are known as 'dispensas'.  We continue to make this
the primary focus of our community support and, every 3 to 4 weeks,
provide 40 families with basic food staples.
You can keep up to date on what your past generosity continues to
provide by logging on to our web site and checking 'Facts & Figures'.

Sometimes things are just meant to happen:
Delivering dispensas on Wednesday, February 13th turned out to be
extra special.  Several years ago we were directed to the home of a
couple - Sr. and Sra. Lopez-Velasco - who were quite advanced in years.
What we found was a delightful couple - both in their 90's - living in their
own home and, for the most part, looking after themselves with a little
help from family.  We have always enjoyed dropping off a dispensa here
as we are always warmly greeted and the food is so greatly appreciated.
February 13th, it turns out, was Sra. Lopez-Velasco's 98th birthday (Sr.
Lopez-Velasco says he is 97).  Sr. Lopez-Velasco was curious to know
how old we were and particularly wanted to know how long we had been
married.  He then shared with us that they have been married for over 80
years.  As luck would have it, we had picked up some frosted donuts
when shopping this morning so had an opportunity to share these in
celebration of Sra. Lopez-Valasco's birthday
- something that she really
enjoyed.

Are you missing the music?
Many of you probably know that, in addition to being the lead musician in
the Bottom Feeders, Steve (aka Bubba) had a 'real' band - known as The
Redneck Mothers.  Want to know what The Redneck Mothers are up to -

Promotional Items:
In our last news we told you we had a few promotional items available -
including caps.  Well, most of the caps have been sold - we have only 12
left, so, if you are interested in a lasting reminder of the Bottom Feeders,
drop us a line - info@bottomfeedersmexico.com - because, once these
are gone, that's it - there won't be any more.  Same thing if you want one
of the remaining CD's.

And, last, but definitely not least, to those who continue to support what
we do through financial contributions, clothing donations, etc. - Thank
you.
We were recently given a large quantity of baby and toddler
clothing items which we distributed to many of the families who are
regular recipients of dispensas.  The young mothers were extremely
happy to receive these.

If you have any questions, wish to make a donation of clothing or
whatever, you can get in touch with us by telephone (
